Software you need

I use Photomatix Pro, I have tried lots of HDR software and find Photomatix the best. Use the Coupon code ‘ON3LEGS’ for a 15% discount, you can get it from here -> Photomatix DOWNLOAD

What’s in the video’s?

In these video I show you how to use Photomatix once you have taken your multiple exposures. I typically will take 5 exposures, -2ev, -1ev, 0, +1ev, +2ev, the only time I differ from this is when the image has a higher than normal dynamic range, for example, into the sun, or from inside a room where the sun is bright coming in the windows. If my camera would do a 3 exposure bracket at -2, 0, +2 then this is what I would do, it would reduce the shutter actuation’s on my camera by 40% if you’re reading this Mr Nikon…

Anyway, these videos are about 10 minutes long and will give you an idea of how easy it is for you to use Photomatix to process an image, this is the first part of my processing, after photomatix I will use photoshop to fix what Photomatix doesn’t do well, generally skies, solid white areas and halo’s around areas of higher contrast.

Great video. I am looking forward to watching the Photoshop one as well.. I thnk I need to up the memory in my computer as mine is way way slower than yours in processing images in Photomatix and I am always a bit nervous about moving the sliders, but watching you tweaking here and there, I think I will definitely get some images to play with in the next few days……

I enjoyed this VERY much!!! I’ve been using Photmatix for a pretty long time, but it’s always great to see someone else tinker around. I haven’t had much luck with their latest version so have been going back to 6 and / or version 8. But your results were lovely … so I may have to get back in there and try it out again. Looking forward to your Photoshop vid … as that halo-ing drives me batty, too, and I’d love to see how you correct that. Thanks so much!!!!
