Lowepro Vertex 200aw

Lowepro have won me for life… Read on to find out why

That’s a pretty bold statement…. I know. But I can honestly say that Lowepro have won me for life. 15 months after getting my Lowepro Vertex 200aw, it started to develop some issues. The shoulder straps were fraying and it was getting to the point I was not going to trust this bag for much longer. Sometimes I would be on a 2, 3 or 4 hour hike and if the straps were to go it would be very inconvenient.

I actually started to look at other bags, if you’re a photographer then you know how confusing it can be. I have been shooting for over 20 years and it has taken me a long time to find the bag for me, seriously, this Lowepro Vertex bag was the bag built for me.

In this bag I can take 2 camera bodies, several lenses, filters, batteries and snacks to get me through the day, and this bag would still have room. I was really quite disappointed when it started to fall apart, mainly because I was going to have to start the bag hunting again.

I then discovered that Lowepro have a lifetime warranty, here is a copy and paste from their website.

In the unlikely event of a defect occurring with your Lowepro bag, case or backpack, Lowepro offers a limited lifetime warranty for their bags in the country of purchase.

Yes, I too noticed the ‘limited’ word, and this of course concerned me. Anyway, I decided to contact them and find out what they would do…. They were quick to respond asking for photo’s, I quickly took some with my iPhone and emailed them back, I was already impressed with how quickly they wanted to help me out. It wasn’t long before I got a return email with a request for me to send the bag into them so they could inspect it further. Within a couple of days Lowepro had contacted me to say they inspected the bag and were sending me a new replacement! Lowepro… You Rock!

Do you need ANY other reason to buy a Lowepro… I don’t! This literally secures me as an advocate for life.

Is this the camera bag for you?

This is a serious bit of kit. If you’re like me, you have probably tried just about every option there is available when it comes to camera bags. I can never quite come to terms with how much they charge for camera bags, and this had led me to buying some cheap crap off ebay, only to replace them all with a Lowepro Vertex 200aw.

In Fact, I now have three Lowepro bags. The Vertex backpack is my biggest bag and the one I use the most. The other two bags I have is an Inverse 200aw, this is a belt pack bag and is good for local outings when I don’t need much gear, and I also have a small messenger bag for my mirrorless camera if that’s all I am heading out with for the day.

On a serious photography outing, I will load the Vertex up with a couple of camera bodies, several lenses, spare batteries, filters, other photography bits and bob and sometimes snacks to get me through the day too!

Once loaded with all my gear, I could still fit more in… it has HEAPS of room… the best part is that even once fully loaded, with my tripod strapped to the tripod attachment gizmo, it weighs about 12kg, and it is still comfortable to hike with! This is due to the thick padding on the straps and the mid riff strap that takes a lot of the weight.

Inside the bag there are the normal velcro dividers making it easy for me to customise it to my needs, and quite often I will make changes depending on the trip and the equipment I need to take. It is very simple to make adjustments.

On the outside of the bag they have plenty of straps and pockets.

Here is a quick video I made showing you what’s inside my bag…
