Heading to Beijing
Only 18 sleeps to go and I will be boarding the A380 and heading to Beijing, I am actually going for a business conference, but I will definitely pack my D800 and a few lenses to see what I can capture… During this time, I will still be blogging although I am not sure if I will have the chance to post many photo’s… I am sure you will get see a few images on my return (just a few hundred maybe!)…
I thought it would be a good time to chat to you about travelling with your gear, and what to take/not to take. I have travelled a bit with my gear, and I find that less is more. I am happy if I have covered everything from 16mm to 200mm in my kit, so I will take a 16-35, 24-70 and a 70-200… and of course my D800. I will pack a SB900 speedlight too, just in case and a smaller camera bag so I can just head out with a small pack when needed. I will definitely be taking a tripod, I have a Benro travel angel, it packs down small and is light, and whilst it isn’t the greatest tripod on the planet, it is better than no tripod at all. Sometimes I will pack my full size tripod if I know it is needed. Finally, take plenty of memory cards and a laptop for back ups if possible, you don’t want to lose any of your pics.
I would suggest you ‘carry on’ you camera equipment unless you have to check it in, and if you did, you would want your gear to be in a hard case….

The Daily Pic – Joey Sunrise
I watched as Natures lighthouse was rising over the horizon giving the Barrenjoey lighthouse a break… such a nice time of the day…
