Good, Cheap and Fast

I am heading to Tasmania next week and decided that I would take a macro lens with me. After looking at the lenses available I settled on the Sigma 105mm Macro lens and set about finding one. After ringing around I soon worked out this lens is popular and knew I was going to have to order one. I chatted with a rep from digidirect.com.au and was promised they would be able to get me the lens by this weekend if I placed my order on Monday, it suited me, Australian stock, great price and delivered when I wanted it…

Thursday afternoon I started to get concerned as I had not heard anything, I sent an email and it was replied to by the Sales Manager telling me it would be sent to me Friday. In the email I again stated that I needed this by the weekend and assumed at this point that the Sales manager would have read this, as I also stated I was happy to pay extra for their 3 hour delivery service. It’s now 5:30pm Friday and I will not have this lens in time for the weekend. I now have to hope that it gets here before I leave for Tasmania!

When I rang the sales manager at Digidirect I was hit with all sorts of excuses and the Sales Manager seemed to want to argue with me rather than take responsibility for the screw up and help me. Once again highlights the lack of customer service and why so many people are turning to eBay. I probably could have got it cheaper and quicker on eBay!

Having said that, it reinforces the mantra, Good, Cheap, Fast… you can only pick 2!

Today’s iCandy – Clear to Land

Here’s another from Bradley’s Head. I love how sometimes the sun will just emit sun rays through the clouds… and as a bonus there is an aircraft on final to Land at Sydney Airport…
