Composition, Composition, Composition…
If you want a good photo, it all starts with composition, I have seen fantastic photo’s taken on iPhones and point and shoot cameras, so spending your hard earned on a top of the line DSLR will not guarantee your photo’s will be any better…
One of the lessons it took me a while to learn, and I am still learning, is the art of getting the composition right. As I move through my day, I see photo’s, peoples, places and events as photo’s… sometimes, a good composition will take time… you may need to move around, or move your subject around, what I can guarantee is that if you take a ‘little’ care with your composition it will give you a much greater image result!
So what makes a good photo.. .well, there are a stack of rules and I am not going to go through them now… I did cover the once in an earlier post. I would suggest you try a lot of things and see what rocks your boat… my advice is to look twice… that’s right, firstly compose the image then have another look for less obvious things like poles, wires, rubbish, cars and stuff you don’t want in your shot, sometimes moving 3 or 4 feet to the left or right, or getting lower to the ground will make a huge difference.
The Daily Pic – Pittwater Views
Some places are almost magical, and to me this is one of those places. I took this on my walk up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Rating myself a 2 out of 10 on the fitness scale it was nice to stop, get my breath back and soak in the views… enjoy!
